弊社のPhD Fellowshipプログラムは1年間のプログラムで、各受賞者には10,000米ドルが授与されます（使途を限定しない寄付金扱い）。
応募方法、資格基準、要件などの詳細については、Webサイト 及び こちらのスライド をご確認ください。
応募に必要な資料:
· 学生の履歴書(CV)。利用可能な場合Webサイトと発表文献へのリンクを含める。
· 学生の指導教員の簡易的な履歴書(CV) (1ページ)
· 現在(博士後期課程)および以前(修士課程)の成績証明書
· 候補者の業績を知る者(うち一人は指導教員)からの2〜3通の推薦状
· 研究計画書 (最大3ページ。ただし、参考文献についてはページ数としてカウントしない)
· エッセイ(350ワード以内)「あなたの研究が分野や社会にもたらす望ましい影響と、なぜこの研究があなたにとって重要であるかを説明してください。研究への関心の動機となった個人的、教育的、専門的な経験を含めてください。」
· エッセイ(350ワード以内)「他の人に良い影響を与えたり、揉め事の解決に役立ったり、または時間をかけてグループでの取り組みに貢献したりしたリーダーシップ体験を、具体例を挙げながら説明してください。 」
応募にあたっての注意点:
1. Webサイトでは大学からの推薦が必須(“PhD students in Japan, Korea and Taiwan must be nominated by their university”)と記載されておりますが、直接フォームからご応募いただいて問題ありません。
2. プログラム終了の2025年夏以降まで在学予定かつ、2024年度内に単位が概ね揃い、研究に集中できる環境にあることを要件としております。入学・卒業年の指定はありませんが、上記の要件から3年間の博士後期課程に春入学された方の場合、1年目(2024年度 D1)及び2年目(D2)が、秋入学の方の場合は2年目(D2)及び3年目(D3)が主な対象になるかと思われます。
本要件につきましては、卒業要件・必修単位などそれぞれの方のご事情にあわせて柔軟に判断しますので、ご不安な点があれば、応募前に担当の繁田(shigeta@google.com)まで直接ご確認ください。
3. 他の企業から既にフェローシップを取得している学生は対象外となりますのでご注意ください。学振DCなど公的機関または学内のプログラムからの支援の取得については問題ありません。
4. グローバルに展開しているプログラムのため、申請資料やフォームに入力する内容は全て英語でご記入ください。
5. 応募締め切りは2024/5/8 11:59:59pm UTC−12:00です。申請資料をご準備いただき、オンライン申請フォームからご応募ください。一度送信した後の編集はできませんので、全ての資料が完成していることを確認してから送信してください。
応募を取りまとめて内部審査を行い、受賞者には7月中に結果をお知らせする予定です。

We’d like to share that the 2024 Google PhD Fellowship program is now open for application. The program is to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional work in computer science, related disciplines, or promising research areas.
The PhD Fellowship program is a one-year program for full-time PhD students. Each recipient will be awarded 10,000 USD and will be matched with a Google Research Mentor. Please visit our web page for complete information on how to apply, eligibility criteria, requirements, etc. Also you can find some tips on the slide.
Below are some highlighted key information:
Application materials:
· Student CV with links to website and publications (if available)
· Short (1-page) CV of the student’s primary advisor
· Transcripts of current and previous academic records
· 2-3 letters of recommendation from those familiar with the nominee’s work (at least one from the thesis advisor)
· Research / dissertation proposal including references (maximum 3 pages, excluding references)
· Student essay response (350-word limit) to: Describe the desired impact your research will
· make on the field and society, and why this is important to you. Include any personal, educational and/or professional experiences that have motivated your research interests.
· Student essay response (350-word limit) to: Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time.
Information and key date:
1. We said “PhD students in Japan, Korea and Taiwan must be nominated by their university” on our webpage but you can submit your application directly via our Online Application Form.
2. While we don’t set requirements on graduation year, there are 2 requirements: “Completed most of graduate coursework in their PhD by the academic award year” and “Students must remain enrolled full-time in the PhD program from 2024 Aug to 2025 July.” Therefore, if you started your 3 year PhD course in a spring semester, 1st/2nd year (D1 or D2) will be the best timing to apply. If you started in an autumn semester, both 2nd year (D2) and 3rd year (D3) can meet the requirements.
I know each university/department has different requirements and conditions. If you are uncertain whether you can meet the requirements, please contact Ryo Shigeta (shigeta@google.com) to preliminary check your eligibility.
3. Students who have already received fellowship from other companies are not eligible (but not conflict with those from local governments like JSPS DC or your university’s own program).
4. Deadline is 2024/5/8 11:59:59pm UTC−12:00. Please prepare application materials and submit from the online form.
You won’t be able to edit form input after submission so make sure you have completed all materials before submission.
When we collect all the applications, we will run an internal review process and then will announce the recipients in July.
