Announcements

We would like to formally announce the launch of “Kyoto University-UCSD/CNT Seminar Series” which are co-hosted by Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Moores Cancer Center, and the Center for Novel Therapeutics. As a part of our on-site laboratory, Kyoto University Research Center San Diego (KURC-SD), we plan to alternately invite one guest speaker from Kyoto University and UC San Diego to hold a series of online seminars on a regular basis.
For the twelfth meeting that will be the final for this seminar series, we have invited J. Silvio Gutkind, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology, UC San Diego, as a guest speaker. We look forward to your participation.

Guest Speaker
J. Silvio Gutkind, Ph.D.
Distinguished Professor and Chair,
Department of Pharmacology, UC San Diego
Associate Director, Moores Cancer Center

Dr. J. Silvio Gutkind is a Distinguished Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, as well as Associate Director for BasicScience, Moores Cancer Center, UC San Diego. Before moving to UC San Diego, Dr. Gutkind spent nearly 30 years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), most recently as chief of the Oral and Pharyngeal Cancer Branch, and chief of the Cell Growth Regulation and Molecular Carcinogenesis Sections at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Gutkind has published more than 400 original studies in prestigious journals, and has organized and co-organized multiple national and international meetings and symposia on signal transduction and oral cancer research. He has been a member of many editorial boards of scientific journals and national and international advisory committees, and has supervised and mentored numerous graduate students, research fellows, and tenure-track investigators, many of whom are now playing leadership roles in institutions in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Gutkind is also a co-organizer of this seminar series and plays a central role on the UCSD side of the Kyoto University-UCSD academic and research exchange.
