KU-UCSD/CNT Seminar #4: Event Announcement

Announcements

 We would like to formally announce the launch of “Kyoto University-UCSD/CNT Seminar Series” which are co-hosted by Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Moores Cancer Center, and the Center for Novel Therapeutics. As a part of our on-site laboratory, Kyoto University Research Center San Diego (KURC-SD), we plan to alternately invite one guest speaker from Kyoto University and UC San Diego to hold a series of online seminars on a regular basis.
For the third meeting, we have invited Michael Karin, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Department of Pharmacology, UC San Diego as a guest speaker. We look forward to your participation.

Guest Speaker
Michael Karin, Ph.D. Distinguished Professor, Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, UC San Diego

Michael Karin, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego). Dr. Karin is a world authority on signal transduction pathways that regulate gene expression in response to extracellular stimuli, infection, and stress. His works led to understanding the mechanisms of JNK pathway and NF-B pathway. For these contributions, he was elected to the member of National Academy of Sciences (2005) and Institute of Medicine (2011). He was also awarded the William B. Coley Award for Distinguished Research in Basic Immunology (2013). His current research remains devoted to understanding the molecular mechanisms of inflammation with the goal of using cancer immunotherapy to defuse its effects and improve outcomes in patients.
