Kyoto University Life Science ShowCase @ UCSD 2020: Event announcement and call for participants | Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine Kyoto University

This is to announce that we will hold a showcase event at the Kyoto University on-site laboratory at UCSD in which Kyoto University scientists bring their innovative discoveries to discuss with US investors (venture capitalists; VC) and pharmaceutical companies on possible investment and partnering. Thus, we are calling for possible participants who are interested in presenting their technologies and in accelerating development and commercialization of their discoveries in the global market. Please find below the outline the event and instructions for how to participate in the event.

Feb 27, 2020 (Thu):
– Educational seminars (entrepreneurship, finance for start-up, drug development in the US)
– Tours in venture incubators and venture companies around UCSD
Feb 28, 2020 (Fri):
– Showcase, Review and discussions
– Networking and business matching

Venue
Kyoto University On-site lab at UCSD (Address: Center for Novel Therapeutics, 9310 Athena Circle, La Jolla, CA 92037)

Target category of technologies
Projects consisting of technologies and seeds under research and development aiming for future commercialization of products. Includes pharmaceuticals, medical devices, regenerative medicine, and in vitro diagnostics.

Target participants
Kyoto University scientists and startup companies stemming from Kyoto University who have cutting-edge medical technologies (e.g. seeds for pharmaceuticals) and are interested in developing and commercializing them in international markets.

Project selection
At maximum eight teams will be selected by the theme selection committee based on the market potential, originality of research, competitiveness of technologies, development feasibility, and intellectual property.

Due date
Applicants should submit the “Project proposal form” to the secretariat by the deadline, December 6, 2019. Participants who wish to attend the event without presentation should submit “Entry form to attend” by January 15, 2020.
